Change Description:
In an effort to be more environmentally conscious and environmentally “friendly”, Atmel has added a
15,000 unit/reel ordering option for the UDFN package version for all Serial EEPROM devices in order
to reduce material waste, reduce the size and/or number of shipping boxes, and reduce the total weight
of customer shipments. The current 13-inch reel quantity for the WDFN and UDFN packages is 5000
units/reel; therefore, the new 15,000 unit/reel option will allow a single 13-inch reel to hold three times
the number of units while utilizing the same exact reel (no changes in reel size, reel material, reel
specifications, tape material).
This increase in units/reel will result in a tremendous reduction of customer waste for the disposal or
recycling of the reels, the cardboard boxes, and the packing material. In addition, the increase in
units/reel will allow customers to maximize their production efficiency since reels would have to be
changed far less often.
While 5,000 unit/reel options will continue to be supported, Atmel strongly encourages its customers to
help in the effort to reduce waste by migrating to the 15,000 unit/reel option. The 15,000 unit/reel
ordering option is designated by using an “E” for the shipping carrier option in the catalog part number.

on their respective device datasheets:
